We're going to get kicked off the Soccer Team
Today we had Jack's second soccer practice. Each of the coaches had to pull him aside at different times to explain to him that their is no checking/pushing in soccer. I think he's watched "The Miracle" movie one too many times. He checks like the pros do in hockey. He's the youngest kid on the team by a full year and there he is knocking them all down. I truly was horrified! On top of it all, Will was freaking out the whole practice. I forgot to feed him before we left for practice because we had to run to the vet right before soccer practice. Needless to say, he doesn't do well if he's hungry. It was a total nightmare. I got in the car, called Steve out in Vegas, and started yelling about how aggressive Jack is and that there will be no more hockey talk or movies in our house. Also, Will has Steve's personality, so it was Steve's fault that Will was freaking out about being hungry at Jack's soccer practice. I'm sure he thanks his lucky stars he married me everyday.

The Hotlist Party
Steve and I had tickets to the SRQ Hotlist Party. It's a party that is sponsored by all that is trendy in Sarasota and one of my good friends was the event planner for it. So, Saturday afternoon, my friends and I began to discuss what we were going to wear for this party. My friend Lara started off by saying, I'll tell you what's not hot in 2007, it's me and my closet! None of us shop any more to own any new and trendy clothes. I mean, we never go out, and if we do, who do we have to impress? Our husbands! They would rather we didn't spend the money on cute trendy clothes that we never get to wear anyway.
So, at 7:30, Frank arrived to watch the boys and I scrambled through my closet to find something to wear. At last, I pulled on a brown jersey dress that Steve and I thought looked somewhat trendy and that looked good enough to wear to the Hotlist Party. The question is.....How unfashionabl am I really? I turned 30 two weeks ago. I bought this dress for a spring date party my Junior year in college (I was 20). So this dress was cool 10 years ago when I was in college. Do I really think what was cool 10 years ago is cool now? Cool enough to wear to a hotlist party with Sarasota's trendy elite? Well, no one pointed and laughed, so I guess I made it through the night without having to spend money on a dress I would probably never wear again. Steve and I had a great time without kids for a few hours, so I guess that's what counts!

The Hockey Miracle
Jack's favorite movie is "The Miracle." You know, the movie about the 1980 Olympic Hockey Team. He watches it every day and plays hockey in our family room on the tile. He has identified with certian players in the movie. Michael Eruzioni is the captain of the team. Jack refers to Will as Little Eruzioni. He literally will only refer to Will as little Eruzioni. He calls himself Johnson (the Johnson character is the big goal scorer in the movie). It's a little frustrating because sometimes when you are talking to him, he won't respond. He won't respond, he won't respond, he won't respond. Then I remember, and call him Johson and he immediately responds to whatever I said.
The funniest part of it all is that througout the movie, I have to have a whistle hanging out of my mouth. I'm unloading the dishwasher and there's a whistle in my mouth. I'm cooking dinner, there's a whistle in my mouth. I'm going to the bathroom, and there's a whistle in my mouth. Because everytime Jack yells, "AGAIN!" I have to blow the whistle. I also have to yell, "Hustle, hustle," "pick'em up, pick'em up," "blue line back, red line back, blue line back, goal line back. " He also will take little brakes in the corner of the room (pretending he's in the huddle), and then out of nowhere, he yells "USA," and then returns to his hockey playing ways.
Will is totally in on the action. When Jack picks up his gear and puts his bike helmet on, Will runs for his hockey stick. They even have a face off where Jack drops the puck between them and Will stars swinging his hockey stick trying to compete with his big brother. They are insane! I definitely didn't sign up for boys!

Jack's Soccer Debut
Most of you know that Jack is absolutely crazy. He is non-stop playing sports all day long. Jack has been talking about playing on a soccer team, a hockey team, a football team, a baseball team, etc. Jack turned 3 in June, and the local soccer teams start for kids who turned 4 this summer. So with a my copier, scissors, a pair of tweezers, glue, and white out....I managed to alter Jack's birth certificate a little. Simply changing the 2004 to a 2003. Jack officially starts soccer practice this week.
Now the scam is not to get caught. So I've told Jack that he is 4 years old in case anyone asks him. The kid is totally confused. I used to ask him, "Jack, how old are you?" and he would reply "Mom, I'm three years old." Now, he has no idea what to answer. He sits there stumped and then just starts throwing numbers out there. Sometimes he's 2, sometimes he's 3, sometimes he's 4. One of the kids in his class turned 4 this past week and he told the teacher, "I'm 4 too." The teacher told him that he was three years old and then confirmed it with me after class. Jack is getting more confused by the day.
I'll keep you posted on his soccer practice and games. Steve and I can't wait! Neither can Jack. He dresses up in his shin guards, soccer socks, and soccer cleats every day to prepare for the big debut!!!
